Contrapuntal is defined as two or more independent melodic lines in music. You can write a contrapuntal poem by combining two independent poems\u2014one line of one and then one line of another. Try it!<\/p>\n
1) Find two poems you\u2019ve written that are of a similar length.
\n2) Alternate your poems by writing one line of one and then one line of the other. If it doesn\u2019t seem to be working, try it using the opposite one first.
\n3) Change what you need to change to make sense. Sometimes that\u2019s just capital letters and punctuation, but sometimes you might need to add or delete a word.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s my attempt:<\/p>\n
I could have made dinner tonight, but instead
\nalone with the elements of craft,
\nI read a good book and cleaned under the bed.
\nI wonder why
\nI sorted my yarn and picked up the craft table
\nto grow this garden better.
\nI folded the laundry and now I\u2019m not able
\nto cook any food.
\nOutside the window, there\u2019s crackers and cheese
\nand fruit if you like.
\nI see my history.
\nI\u2019ll have some please.<\/p>\n
