One Dark and Stormy Night . . . YIKES!<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Back in my sleep-over camp-out nights, with the campfire crackling and tossing spooky shadows, the wind howling and tree branches scraping on the tent, we used to make scary spookier still with a game called Yikes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things that go bump<\/em><\/strong> in the night. . . Scary<\/em>, right? Scary how a simple bump<\/em> sound\u2014in the right setting at the right time\u2014sends tingles, quivers, hair-raising heebie-jeebies shivers chasing up our spines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019S Hallow\u2019s Eve; let\u2019s get our Yikes! on. Whoever creates the spookiest poem, wins! First, write a scary poem. And then . . . make it even scarier still by replacing specifics with sounds words.<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

See if you can scare yourself silly!<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Oooooohhhhh CREAK<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

SCRATCH EEK<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

EEK YOWL<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

HOWL<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mwahaha<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

SCREECH SCRITCH<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

WHAT\u2019S THAT NOISE . . .<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Thump <\/strong>THWACK<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

thwaaaaaaaaaa<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Set the timer for 7 minutes.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t think about it too much; just do it.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Start writing!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
